MasterCard Foundation in partnership with the University of Cape Town(UCT) supervises the enforcement of both financial, academic, social, and also post-graduation support to successfully awarded candidates of MasterCard UCT Scholarship

However, these scholarships seek to bring about the advancement of talented young people from beneficiaries to benefactors, giving them the support and also preparing them with the right values, knowledge, skills, and leadership to increase economic and social progress across the African globe

MasterCard UCT Scholarship 2022/2023 Requirements

Below are the criteria listed below and all Applicant willing to apply for MasterCard UCT Scholarship must meet the following requirements

  • An applicant must be academically talented and must value learning and be driven to complete their education to be eligible
  • Also, candidates are required to be committed to giving back to their own communities once their studies are fully completed. To go back to their home countries, and take a leadership role in promoting social and economic improvement
  • All Applicant should always note that commitment to community service through previous or past engagements with community outreach activities is needed
  • Meanwhile, all applicants must have a desire to study at the undergraduate or postgraduates level ( Masters by research and coursework or research Masters, only)
  • At least, a minimum of 60% for the Honours or equivalent degree is the overall academic criterion required for entry into the master’s degree
  • Eligible applicants are citizens and residents of a sub-Saharan African country.

Criteria for Selection

  • All Applicants must meet the set academic criteria to be chosen
  • Also, all eligible must come from an economically disadvantaged background
  • All Applicants must also show leadership zeal, and potential and must have acted in a leadership capacity.

Scholarship Worth

This scholarship will cover the following:

  • Costs incurred for visa application processing
  • The scholarship also covers an economy class air tickets to Cape Town, South Africa for Citizens of a Sub- Saharan country other than South Africa
  • It covers fees for accommodation normally in the student housing system at UCT
  • Meals are as well covered through the student housing system at the University of Cape Town
  • The Costs incurred for visa application processing
  • There will also be academic support which includes: Tutoring, language training, writing circles, and also guidance counseling
  • The Medical fees are covered and the Allowance for books
  • All the costs related to community activities as prescribed by the MasterCard Scholarship Program at the University of Cape Town and Beneficiaries will gain access to an internship opportunity.
